Perry Renshaw, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Perry Renshaw is Professor of Psychiatry and Co-Director of the Diagnostic Neuroimaging Lab at the University of Utah. He received his M.D. and Ph.D. (Biophysics) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine before completing his residency in Psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital. His training as a biophysicist and psychiatrist led to a primary research interest in the use of multinuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy neuroimaging to identify changes in brain chemistry associated with psychiatric disorders and substance abuse. Dr. Renshaw is an avid fan of both college and pro football and basketball, and he can often be found enjoying televised sporting events. When not enjoying sports, he is often engrossed in reading science fiction.
