William Iacono, Ph.D.

Dr. William G. Iacono is a Regents Professor, Distinguished McKnight University Professor, and Professor of Psychology, Psychiatry, Neuroscience, and Law at the University of Minnesota. Professor Iacono earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Minnesota and his Bachelor of Science degree from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Before joining the faculty at the University of Minnesota, he was a professor of Psychology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. For the last 25 years, Dr. Iacono has been Co-director of the Minnesota Center for Twin & Family Research (MCTFR). MCTFR projects involve the longitudinal study of twin and adoptive families from pre-adolescence into adulthood, with a focus on the brain and the role of gene-environment interplay in the development of psychological adjustment and common mental disorders. He grew up in Maine, and enjoys outdoor recreation, especially wilderness canoe camping trips.
