Raul Gonzalez, Ph.D.

Dr. Raul Gonzalez is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Florida International University (FIU), with secondary appointments in the Psychiatry and in the Immunology Departments of the FIU Wertheim College of Medicine. He obtained his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of California San Diego/San Diego State University Joint Doctoral Program and specialized in Clinical Neuropsychology throughout his doctoral and postdoctoral training. Dr. Gonzalez’s research examines why youths and adults engage in risky behaviors (like drug use) and how these behaviors and their consequences affect their brains and everyday functioning. Dr. Gonzalez spent his childhood and adolescence in Miami. He lived in San Diego and Chicago before finding his way back to Miami with his spouse, daughter, and two cats.
