Hugh Garavan, Ph.D.
University of Vermont
Dr. Hugh Garavan is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Vermont. He received his Ph.D. in Psychology at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. His research focusses on brain structure and function and how they might relate to individual differences in psychological abilities and health. He is especially interested in the changes that occur in brain function throughout the adolescent years. Dr. Garavan is originally from a small town in the west of Ireland and moved to Vermont 6 years ago. When not thinking of creative ways to overwork the stellar students in his lab, he spends his free time with his kids (as much as he can), his dog (as little as he can), playing tennis and hiking (as much as he is capable).
