Sandra A. Brown, Ph.D.

Dr. Sandra A. Brown is Vice Chancellor for Research and a Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego. Her pioneering research focuses on youth addiction and adolescent development. She is particularly interested in how problems develop during adolescence, how youth work their way out of these problems, and what we can do to prevent and effectively treat mental health and substance use problems. Dr. Brown is originally from Michigan. As an undergraduate she studied mathematics, but earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. She lives in Encinitas, CA, where she enjoys the beach and travel.
